Our Story
Kōzōn Skincare was inspired by a simple, grounded way of life. Our founder, Szilvia Szuts, grew up in rural Hungary, where her family grew their own food, cared for animals, and made what they needed from scratch. There was a deep connection to the land and a natural understanding that what we put in and on our bodies truly matters.
As Szilvia later saw a world filled with highly processed, brightly packaged products and long ingredient lists, she became more aware of how far we had drifted from that simplicity — and how it can impact our health over time. She was drawn back to what she always knew: that simple, natural ingredients are not only safer, but deeply nourishing.
Kōzōn was created from this belief — bringing together traditional wisdom, clean ingredients, and thoughtful formulation to support healthy, balanced skin in the most natural way possible. We officially launched on Earth Day in April 2021, a reflection of our commitment to clean, intentional, and nature-aligned skincare.
Our Formulation Philosophy
Szilvia's approach to formulation is rooted in both tradition and hands-on experience. Growing up in rural Hungary, working with natural ingredients was a way of life that sparked her early understanding of botanicals. Over the years, that foundation evolved into a focused passion — extensive research into ingredients, refined formulation techniques, and product development through practical experience.
Each Kōzōn formula is thoughtfully created, combining traditional wisdom with modern insight and a deep commitment to purity, effectiveness, and skin health.
Why Activated Oxygen?
Kōzōn's use of activated oxygen (ozone) is rooted in a long tradition. Ozonated plant oils have been part of European skincare and personal-care formulation for more than a century — prized for the distinctive oxygen-rich feel they leave on the skin and for how well they pair with simple, clean ingredient lists.
Szilvia first became curious about ozonated oils through her own skincare practice, and spent years researching the ingredient — its history, formulation chemistry, and how different plant oils respond to the ozonation process. That research became the foundation for Kōzōn's formulations: a short list of plant oils and butters, each carefully sourced, each infused with activated oxygen under controlled conditions. Our goal is simple — skincare that feels gentle, clean, and considered, from the first ingredient to the last.
Where We Source Our Ingredients
At Kōzōn Skincare, we use only pure, organic ingredients. Many of our botanicals — such as lavender and calendula — are locally grown with care in Idaho. The rest are thoughtfully sourced from trusted suppliers like Mountain Rose Herbs and Shay and Company in Oregon. All essential oils used in our formulations are skincare-grade and tested for purity, ensuring the highest quality in every product.
